Preventing Falls from Trucks Initiative
In the transport industry, there is a notable incidence of injuries and fatalities arising from workers falling off trucks and trailers. The risks of falls are linked to various factors, including vehicle design, equipment usage, work practices, behavior, and other organizational and industry-specific elements. It is imperative for businesses within the road transport industry and their supply chains to recognize and address these risks.
Campaign Overview
WorkCover Queensland launched a concerted effort to mitigate fall-related incidents within the transport industry and its supply chains. The primary aim of this initiative was to collaborate with industry stakeholders in identifying key risks and devising practical tools and case studies to effectively manage these risks. Throughout Queensland, interactive workshops—totaling 30 sessions—were conducted to facilitate discussions and propose strategies for preventing falls from trucks. Additionally, WHSQ inspectors carried out 145 comprehensive workplace assessments.
