A series of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) is being recalled by the supplier due to the potential for electrical fires and electric shock.

The affected RCDs, identifiable by the 'Dielle' brand, model number 'YK78,' and an invalid approval marking of N.21905, were supplied nationwide from 2006 onwards. These markings are visible on the product, as shown in the accompanying photographs, encompassing all rated models in the 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, and 32A range.

Safety Concern: Risk of fire and electric shock. The RCDs may not conform to the product safety standard, and there's a potential for unreliable tripping under earth fault conditions. Notably, marking N.21905 is not a valid Approval number.

Recommended Actions: Building owners, managers, and electrical contractors are strongly advised to inspect switchboards or load centers for potentially affected RCDs.

In case of identifying a recalled RCD model in a customer's premises, it is crucial to notify them about the recall. Explain that the product has demonstrated unreliability in fault situations, emphasizing the necessity for replacement by a licensed electrical contractor. Unfortunately, the supplier is no longer in operation, placing the cost of remediation on the person in control of the building or the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU).
