Quad bikes and side-by-side vehicles are popular for their adaptability, ease of operation, and low running costs. They are frequently used by farmers, producers, local and state governments, search and rescue teams, and adventure tourism operators.

However, the unsafe use of quad bikes is a major cause of fatalities and serious injuries in Queensland workplaces. Since 2011, over 50 Queenslanders have died in quad bike incidents.

To ensure safety, quad bikes must be operated responsibly at all times.

The Work Health and Safety (Quad Bikes) Amendment Regulation 2024, which came into effect on March 21, 2024, mandates safety measures for quad bike operators in the workplace. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
